Former Legendary Radio Station Makes Changes to its Imaging

WHAT AM the former Philadelphia heritage African American radio station that was sold by Inner City Broadcasting (WBLS) to new owners in December of 2006, has tweaked the station once again. They have stopped calling themselves "Martini Lounge Radio" and are now simply known as "AM 1340 WHAT."

The station was the home to legendary Black DJ's and on-air talk show host at one time or another like Jocko, Georgie Woods, Mary Mason, Sonny Hopson, Perri Johnson and also E. Steven Collins and Lady B currently with 107.9 WRNB.

The new owners have tried a Alt. Rock format called Skin Radio and now feature a standards music format. Here's some classic sounds from WHAT Listen Here>> Courtesy Aircheck WFMU New York
