  1. "Funky as a mah-skeeta's (mosquito)
tweeter". I remember listening to Hank in the 70s on Super 16. There was NOBODY on the air quite like him, even today. One of a kind!

  2. Hank was the best DJ I've ever heard, and I've heard them all. Nobody else on WWRL could touch him, not even Frankie Crocker. RIP Hank.

  3. As a kid I remember Hank Spann on WWRL getting ready to play a hot one. With the music intro playing Spann would say in the coolest DJ voice ever "Put your foot on the rock. Pet it, don't you dare stop!" Sometimes at the conclusion of a jam he would say "Have Mercy Now!" Thanks Hank Spann for entertaining we in those days, along with Gary Byrd and the other DJs.
