The ROOT 100 recognizes emerging and established African-American leaders who are making extraordinary contributions. The ROOT 100 celebrates leadership, creativity, service, and, above all, excellence.
Among the 100 that are honored is Radio One CEO Alfred Liggins III. Liggins is quoted as saying "When I wake up in the morning and think of competing, I don't think of the next Black guy, Bob (Johnson) is not the compeition; Viacom and Clear Channel are."
