Anji Corley New Midday Host at WPGC, and news on Big Tigger

Anji Corley takes over the midday slot at 95-5 WPGC in Washington, D.C. from 10-2p.m. Corley was most recently the morning co-host with the Donnie Simpson Show. She replaces Michel Wright who is ending her longtime midday run at the station. According to DCRTV, Wright will join D.C. CBS sister station 94.7 Fresh FM as a host.

The other news at WPGC concerns the still unfilled morning show host position at the station. Last Friday Big Tigger announced ...he was leaving the afternoon show. However... he did not say he would be taking over mornings. So now for the time being, Tigger is in negotiations with CBS for mornings, while the station is searching for a female co-host. In most instances we guess, his "kittens" would probably qualify for not much more than their current position. Whatever that may be...radio would not be it!

More news...On Sunday 107.5 WBLS weekend host LaDawn Black announced she was moving on to a new opportunity and leaving the station. Black made a surprise return to radio this week at her old stomping grounds as a guest host on The AM Clique Morning Show this week on 92Q (WERQ-FM Baltimore). LaDawn hosted the very popular night show 'The Love Zone' until 2013 when she moved over to sister Adult R&B station Magic 95.9 as midday host.

iHeart's Power 99 (WUSL-FM Philadelphia) midday host Cappuchino exits the station. She's been with the station since 2012. 'Way Up with Angela Yee' is now heard on Power 99 as one of the 30 affiliates that carry the syndicated program across the country.

Questlove went to Instagram to celebrate the word “jawn” being recognized as an official word in the Merriam-Webster Dictionary. The dialectic term is native to his hometown. In Philadelphia and Eastern PA, “jawn” evolved as a variant of “joint,” originally denoting a place. “Jawn” has been used to describe almost anything that one need not or cannot give a specific name to. Suddenly jawn has become not cool to use.
