On a list of the top 10 Rap Songs - This is Number One
If you tune in to the mainstream Rhythmic radio format with stations known as "Movin" or "Groovin"; you will invariably hear old school rap. The format geared towards white women 25-54, knows that all hip-hop ain't bad.

Philly's Power 99 Talks to Teens about "Flash Mobs" and Social Networking
It builds them up, like their reputation, (student John) Laderer said last night outside a forum on city youth violence arranged by radio station Power 99. I think some people are just trying to be as hard as the tattoos they're getting. -Philly.com
Power 99 (WUSL) hosted a live hour long forum with five teenagers from various Philadelphia public high schools.

The Best Commercial HD2 Station in the World is WHUR World
It's a wonder that more commercial stations don't effectively program or promote their HD2 stations like WHUR in Washington, DC. It just seems that this HD radio thing can barely get off the ground for commercial radio stations. Terrestrial radio has left the door open for online music services like Pandora and Satellite radio to established themselves in the radio entertainment spectrum and fill a void where you would think HD2 stations could provide niche programming that would draw listeners away from their competitors.

Black America Hates Tavis Smiley
Let's explore the hate... Ever since Tavis Smiley's appearance on the Al Sharpton radio program, the consensus has been that Tavis stepped on the wrong toes. Tavis is just plain old hatin'. Hatin' on the President and hatin' on Black America's wavy, James Brown tribute bouffant wearing leader.

Coonery and Buffoonery is spelled T-PAIN
For quite a few folks around the country, or to those of you that have paid attention, the new show "Freaknik" has ruffled more than a few feathers. Cartoon Network's Adult Swim has added the program headlined by the modern day minstrel show ringmaster himself T-Pain. He has made quite a name for himself lately and for the autotune technology. T-Pain's technologically altered singing voice has allowed him to parlay his music career into a often seen commercial (at the moment I can't remember the product, nor care to...) and now TV. Who knows what else is in the works for him? Dare we say movies! Maybe Spike Lee can remake a documentary version of his 2000 film Bamboozled and have Mos Def end this madness once and for all.
In the following commentary from Essence Magazine "T-Pain's 'Freaknik' Is Animated Buffoonery"; blogger Shirea L. Carroll says...

Mo'Nique Wins Best Supporting Oscar for her role in 'Precious'

Mo'Nique became the fifth Black woman to win an acting Oscar, 70 years after Hattie McDaniel became the first African American to do so for "Gone with the Wind." The 42-year-old stand-up comic portrayed an abusive mother in "Precious: Based on the Novel 'Push' by Sapphire."
Other African American women to win in the best supporting actress category were Jennifer Hudson for "Dreamgirls" (2006) and Whoopi Goldberg for "Ghost" (1990). Halle Berry was voted best actress for "Monster's Ball" in 2001.
Now is Mo'Nique ready to host mornings at WPGC? It all seems strange... stay tuned.

Guru of Gangstarr is in a Coma
There were multiple reports today that rapper Guru (Keith Elam) from the legendary hip hop group Gangstarr, has suffered cardiac arrest and is in a coma. Sources from various hip hop websites have only confirmed that Guru is in a New York-area hospital after cardiac arrest. His friends, family and a generation of fans are praying for the best. Posted here are some classic videos from Guru. Al Sharpton the New Talk Show King; Picked up in New York and Philadelphia
What is the aftermath of last week's Al Sharpton and Tavis Smiley spat. Let's not simply call it a spat, it was more like a verbal butt-whupping by Sharpton on Smiley's behind worthy of a call to child protective services or 911.
