Is there a Message in Beyonce's Pregnancy Beyond the Tweets?


Social media history was made last week right after Beyonce confirmed that she was pregnant with her performance at the recent MTV Video Music Awards. The Twitter world went crazy generating a record 8,868 tweets per second. The blogosphere has been on fire ever since with posts on such topics as 'How will Beyonce and Jay-Z's baby look' to pictures of her baby bump. Two bloggers take an interesting look, with somewhat opposing points of view on "the pregnancy" and its social implications of marriage to the Hip Hop generation.

More news... Syndicated radio host and comedian Rickey Smiley announced the death of his oldest son, Brandon Smiley (32), on Sunday morning via social media. He didn’t share the cause of death or any other details. Reportedly foul play is not suspected in his son's death.

Urban One rebrands its digital platform as "iOne Digital" from the previous "Interactive One." Radio personality Angela Yee launched her midday show today on Power 105.1 in New York with celebrity blogger, podcaster, and close friend Jasmine Brand. Yee described it as a "soft launch in NY this week and then nationwide next week (Monday, Feb. 6)."
