Throwback: How Dr. Dre And Snoop Dogg Broke Down Barriers

They Shattered Radio Barriers; Jimmy Iovine talks to Steve Stout of 'The Tanning Effect' [VIDEO]

Legendary music producer Jimmy Iovine opens up on breaking down barriers with Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg's 1993 single "Nuthin But A 'G' Thang."

How did they break down barriers? Iovine decided to buy 60 second spots that featured only a snippet of the song with a voiceover at the end of the spot. What did listeners do? They called the station to request the song.

The commercials aired not on Black radio stations but on Top 40 Pop stations...and the rest as they say was history.

Dr. Dre and Snoop were the first Hip Hop artists to be featured on the cover of Rolling Stone magazine. Read more at the Huff Post
