Sports Talk Show "Box to Row" Celebrates Black Music Month

The national radio show FROM THE PRESS BOX TO PRESS ROW celebrates Black Music Month in June. On June 7, 1979, then President Jimmy Carter made the decree that June would be the month to celebrate Black Music.

Although each President since has recognized the celebration during June, President Barack Obama took it one step further, making it a Proclamation on June 2, 2009:

In 2011, Grammy Award winner Melanie Fiona, American Idol winner Ruben Studdard and R&B/Soul singer Kem were guests on FROM THE PRESS BOX TO PRESS ROW during June.

Confirmed artists include Grammy Award winning saxophonist Kirk Whalum, who will appear June 1, and 2 as well as R&B singer-songwriter-producer Charlie Wilson.
