Skip Murphy Gaining National Exposure as Tom Joyner's Fill-In and Possible Replacement
We hear that Skip Murphy is gaining in popularity among listeners of the Tom Joyner Morning Show. Skip's popularity has forced some changes at the TJMS. Skip took over the position as "the lead voice" on the syndicated morning show following Tom Joyner's hip replacement surgery late last year. The Dallas radio veteran last week filled in for Tom, while the boss was on vacation and more than held down the fort. Now instead of running "The TJMS at it's Best" shows for a week, the show has decided to go live when a member of their crew goes on vacation. Unlike the Michael Baisden Show who is running a collection of previous shows. This week Sybil Wilkes is on vacation while veteran radio and TV host Jacque Reid is filling in for her.
Skip Murphy has over 30 years of broadcasting experience and began his radio career in his home town of Charlotte, N.C. After working as the morning man on WPEG in Charlotte, Murphy relocated to Dallas-Ft. Worth in 1993 and became probably the most popular morning radio host ever in the city. Most of the years were spent at K-104 and then eventually he moved over to KRNB. Unexpectedly in 2008 he retired from radio, until the opportunity to revive his popular morning show came along on the internet a little more than a year ago. Skip Murphy now broadcasts daily over the internet from 9-11 a.m. CT at The Skip Murphy and Company Show with his former colleagues including Nannette Lee and Sam Putney.
Could the Reach Media syndicated show become the Skip Murphy Morning Show one day? He would be an excellent choice.
