Sports Radio WFAN Begins New Era in their History With Broadcast on 101.9 FM

In it's 25th Year WFAN Will Simulcast on FM in New York

WFAN announced it would begin airing on 101.9 FM in addition to 660 AM at 12:01 a.m. Friday. CBS Radio announced the simulcast plan earlier this month but had not previously set a firm date for it to begin.

Earlier this year ESPN New York 98.7 FM took over the former broadcast home of 98.7 Kiss FM in New York. WFAN had been looking for a way to get their signal on FM and will now occupy the frequency on an LMA agreement that once featured the Smooth Jazz sounds of (WQCD) CD 101.9.

So it begins! WFAN to launch 660 AM/101.9 FM simulcast this Friday at 12:01 a.m.

In recent weeks, WFAN and other CBS Radio Sports stations across the country including 94.1 WIP FM (Philadelphia) and The Game 92.9 FM (Atlanta) listeners have been broadcasting the "CBS Sports Minute" throughout their broadcast day. The FM station now gives CBS Radio a potential New York outlet for the company's national sports network that is to begin 24-hour programming Jan. 2, 2013. The likely scenario would put the new CBS Sports Radio Network on 660 AM and local programming on FM. WFAN's top rated afternoon host Mike Francesa has said that he would continue to broadcast on AM and FM in the event of any programming changes. But as you can see below he might want to cut back a little on his scheduled 1p.m.-6:30 p.m. daily shift which includes a live television broadcast on the YES sports network...
