Adds Radio Stations in Charleston, New Orleans, and other markets

The Rickey Smiley Morning Show, one of the nation's fastest growing morning shows in any format, adds 8 new stations.

New affiliate markets include Cumulus owned WWWZ-Charleston, KKND-New Orleans, WEMX-Baton Rouge, KRRQ-Lafayette, as well as Tony Neal's WNOV-AM and FM in Milwaukee. Also included in the 8 new stations is Williams Communications WZZX-AM and WTXO-FM in Anniston, Alabama. This breaking news was celebrated at The Rickey Smiley Show TV ONE watching party of his new weekly TV series "the Rickey Smiley Show.”  Syndication One President Gary Bernstein presented Smiley with a wrestling belt emblazoned with the number 60 (affiliates) and plaque signifying this historic accomplishment.

Rickey Smiley says, "This is a hallmark achievement for the entire Radio One Family, the morning show crew and staff, and myself.  I sincerely thank everybody!  We will stay steadfast on our journey towards 100 stations and more.  It is my privilege and hope to continue to proudly represent Radio One and to serve our much appreciated listeners. To these things, I am dedicated.”

Gary Bernstein says, "Rickey Smiley is a marketing force with a weekly cume audience of over 3 Million people airing in approaching 60 percent of the nation’s top African-American markets. When you combine his existing PPM ratings strength with his two new huge TV programs, there is going to be nothing stopping Smiley in further growing his audience and popularity. He's a winner! That's why we gave him a belt!”

Cumulus SVP Programming Mike McVay adds, "Rickey is a proven force in Urban radio. His track record in PPM is unprecedented, especially in a format that struggles with that ratings methodology. We are excited to add him to more of our stations!”

Smiley and the Morning Show crew can be seen weekdays/nights on FOX Television’s DISH Nation.   Rickey Smiley recently launched his  new weekly TV series, The Rickey Smiley Show, which airs on TV ONE, Tuesday nights @9pm EST.

More news...On Sunday 107.5 WBLS weekend host LaDawn Black announced she was moving on to a new opportunity and leaving the station. Black made a surprise return to radio this week at her old stomping grounds as a guest host on The AM Clique Morning Show this week on 92Q (WERQ-FM Baltimore). LaDawn hosted the very popular night show 'The Love Zone' until 2013 when she moved over to sister Adult R&B station Magic 95.9 as midday host.

iHeart's Power 99 (WUSL-FM Philadelphia) midday host Cappuchino exits the station. She's been with the station since 2012. 'Way Up with Angela Yee' is now heard on Power 99 as one of the 30 affiliates that carry the syndicated program across the country.

Questlove went to Instagram to celebrate the word “jawn” being recognized as an official word in the Merriam-Webster Dictionary. The dialectic term is native to his hometown. In Philadelphia and Eastern PA, “jawn” evolved as a variant of “joint,” originally denoting a place. “Jawn” has been used to describe almost anything that one need not or cannot give a specific name to. Suddenly jawn has become not cool to use.
