Karen Vaughn, a graduate of Temple University has been honored as one of the Top 10 Females in Urban Radio. Assistant Program Director and Music Director of the Year from Billboard Magazine, Radio and Records Magazine and Gavin Magazine. Her Radio show has also been nominated for Urban Radio Personality/Show of the year and she departed from Indianapolis' heritage station WTLC-FM with the number one Afternoon Show in the city.

Karen Vaughn replaces Chubb Rock who was tracked in from Atlanta and still holds down afternoons at Majic 107.5/97.5. The moves marks the second recent programming change for 100.3 WRNB. The station recently brought on board the Love and R&B night show with John Monds. Vaughn also continues in her role as Operations Manager for the Radio One Philadelphia cluster.

• WLBT anchor and meteorologist Barbie Bassett is no longer with the Jackson, Miss., NBC station after racially insensitive comments. In early March, Bassett was speaking with her fellow anchors on air about Snoop Dogg’s latest business venture, Snoop Cali Blanc, a new wine in his wine label. In response to a comment about putting a Snoop Dogg tattoo on her shoulder, Bassett said, “Fo shizzle, my nizzle.” Bassett is white. Charlamagne tha God defended Bassett as he discussed the situation on The Breakfast Club. “She might be old. She probably has no idea nizzle is a derivative of the N-word. That’s not a fireable offense. I hope she sues.”
