Radio One format change comes in response to CBS Radio's move to flip the former of Hot 95.7 from Contemporary Hit Radio to an Adult Hits format called The Spot 95.7. CBS, which is set to sell off its radio stations this year and separate its operations from its television division, today flipped it's CHR station in Philadelphia, 96.5 AMP Radio to Adult Hits "Today's 96.5."
Is CBS making a statement with its format changes? Is Hip Hop radio (with Desiigner, Lil Yatchy, Rae Sremmurd, and the like) not marketable any longer to millennials because they don't depend on radio to hear the stuff they want to hear?
