SZA Gives Amazing Performance of 'Drew Barrymore' on Kimmel Live!, Announces Album ‘CTRL’

(BILLBOARD) Before taking her talents to the Jimmy Kimmel stage on Thursday, SZA released her breezy number "Drew Barrymore" and announced her forthcoming album titled CTRL. (See performance below)

At an intimate show in New York City earlier this week, the TDE soulstress debuted the track inspired by the actress and her ‘90s flicks like Never Been Kissed and Poison Ivy. "I just imagine this being the soundtrack to one of those movies. Cue Freddie Prinze, Jr.," she said during the event.

While the track itself doesn't name-drop the actress, SZA sweetly sings on The Antydote and Carter Lang-produced love note, "I get so lonely I forget what I'm worth/We get so lonely we pretend that this works/I'm so ashamed of myself think I need therapy."

A great performance by the artist who is part of the roster at Top Dawg Entertainment that also features Kendrick Lamar and Schoolboy Q. SZA definitely deserves more recognition. After a few bumps in the road including voicing some frustration that her album didn't drop in 2016; this year may prove to be the promise of a rising star!
