Rickey Smiley Wins National Association of Broadcasters’ Marconi Radio Award

Rickey Smiley Wins the National Association of Broadcasters’  Marconi Radio Award for Excellence in Broadcasting, Syndicated Show of the Year

Smiley Pulls the Rare Double-Play of Hosting the Acclaimed Industry Awards Show and Being Recognized by His Peers as the Top Syndicated Show in America

On Thursday night, Rickey Smiley and the Rickey Smiley Morning Show were announced as recipients of the Nation Association of Broadcasters’ Marconi Radio Award for Network/Syndicated Personality of the Year. Smiley, an accomplished comedian, entertainer, author and television & radio personality, hosted the awards in Austin saluting the best in broadcasting…even surprising attendees by jumping in with legendary country band Asleep at the Wheel to perform “All My Exes Live in Texas.”

A leader in urban radio on nearly 60 stations, Smiley was stunned and humbled when near the end of the show he himself was a recipient of the honor. Smiley shares the award with morning show co-hosts Da Brat, Gary Wit Da Tea, Headkrack, Juicy, Rock T and Special K, along with show producers Hollywood and Beyoncé Alowishus.

Edgy, quick-paced and anchored by one of the nation’s most popular comedians, The Rickey Smiley Morning Show entertains a wide variety of listeners. The “can’t miss a minute” morning show perfectly blends Hip-Hop/R&B music, exclusive comedy and spiritual enlightenment with today’s hottest topics in news, entertainment and sports.

This Radio Show brings radio broadcasters and industry colleagues together to share knowledge, discover the latest innovations, network with industry leaders and explore creative business strategies for the digital age. Marconi finalists were selected by a task force of broadcasters, and the winners were voted on by the NAB Marconi Radio Awards Selection Academy. The votes were tabulated by an independent firm.
