Rick Party Returns to Afternoons on Hot 105, The Miami Station Drops Michael Baisden

Rick Party returns to afternoons from 2 to 7 with his co-host Benji Brown at Hot 105 Miami. The duo transitioned to mornings when Michael Baisden launched his show in January 2017. Rick has been a long time popular radio host in Miami and does extensive voice over work all over the country for cable stations, ESPN, Showtime, and BET.

With Baisden being dropped in Miami for local host Rick Party; does this signal "trouble" for the survival of the Michael Baisden Show?

Can the syndicated afternoon show survive with a collection of roughly 30 small market stations,  airing on only two major market stations, competition from local hosts, and D.L. Hughley?

Baisden recently returned to the Atlanta airwaves on Mix 87.7, after being dropped by the more highly rated Kiss 104. But other than Washington, D.C.'s 96.3 WHUR, Baisden isn't heard in any other major markets across the country. The show is currently syndicated by Baisden Media Group in partnership with SupeRadio and AURN.

(Gant) recently left to join Julie Guy as co-host of “The 101.5 Lite FM Morning Show with Julie and Tamara G.” on AC station WLYF in Miami. Gant and Guy were previously heard in the South Florida radio market as morning co-hosts at WFLC.

Afternoon radio on Urban AC stations has definitely seen a return to the local on-air personality (DJ) across the country in major markets like New York, Houston, Philadelphia, and Chicago, where syndicated radio dominated only a few years ago. Once Tom Joyner and Steve Harvey retire and/or move on, will Urban AC morning radio do the same?
