V-103 Atlanta Drops Wanda Smith and Miss Sophia from The Frank Ski Morning Show

Co-hosts Wanda Smith and Miss Sophia exited the Morning Show at V-103 (WVEE) Atlanta. The news is so fresh that the V-103 website still list the morning show as "Frank and Wanda in the Morning." Wanda Smith has been a part of the station for close to two decades while working with both Frank Ski and Ryan Cameron. "Miss Sophia" aka comedian Joe Taylor was brought on board in 2006 to do a controversial celebrity gossip segment that unexpectedly took off. Miss Sophia dressed up in drag behind the microphone to do "The Girl Talk" segment. There was no in between regarding the audience's feelings towards Miss Sophia. Listeners either love it or hated it.

Taylor left the station in 2010, while Smith left at the end of 2012, when Frank Ski left V-103 to seek a syndicated radio deal. Taylor resurfaced on Atlanta's 88.7 for a bit. Wanda rejoined the station as co-host with Ryan Cameron in the mornings in 2014. Taylor was brought back with Ryan just before Frank Ski took over the reigns of the morning show of the then CBS Radio owned station once again in early 2018.

CBS 46 News in Atlanta reached Wanda Smith by phone, but she declined to make a comment.

Here's this morning's interview with Faison Love.

The trio seemed to have brought back the chemistry that was missing from mornings at V-103 while Frank Ski was off the air. Good ratings followed and the show re-established V-103 as the most listened to urban radio morning show in the ATL. However Entercom, the new ownership group, is seeking to pair Frank Ski with co-hosts that have a larger social media presence.

The Breaking News: Frank Ski and his wife Dr. Patrice Basanta-Henry are having a baby.

Wanda Smith made headlines earlier this year with a segment that went viral with comedian Katt Williams.

Tavis Smiley owned Los Angeles talk station KBLA Talk 1580 donated $20,000 in scholarship money to the NABJLA and MPJI. KBLA ‘Talk 1580’ strongly believes in enlightening, empowering and encouraging tomorrow’s reporters, editors and potential talk radio hosts. Hopefully, our scholarships make a difference.”

• WLBT anchor and meteorologist Barbie Bassett is no longer with the Jackson, Miss., NBC station after racially insensitive comments. In early March, Bassett was speaking with her fellow anchors on air about Snoop Dogg’s latest business venture, Snoop Cali Blanc, a new wine in his wine label. In response to a comment about putting a Snoop Dogg tattoo on her shoulder, Bassett said, “Fo shizzle, my nizzle.” Bassett is white. Charlamagne tha God defended Bassett as he discussed the situation on The Breakfast Club. “She might be old. She probably has no idea nizzle is a derivative of the N-word. That’s not a fireable offense. I hope she sues.”
