Entercom Expands THE BLOCK In South Carolina to 107.7 FM


Entercom has announced the expansion of 96.3 The Block (WFBC-HD2) to 107.7 FM. The addition of this frequency extends the reach of the Upstate’s fastest-growing Urban radio station to Anderson County.

Image result for the block 107.7“96.3 The Block has become the top choice for hip-hop and R&B fans in Greenville and Spartanburg over the past four years,” said Steve Sinicropi, Senior Vice President and Market Manager, Entercom Greenville-Spartanburg. “We’re excited to answer the call-for-service in Anderson County by adding 107.7 FM. The Block is consistently growing and adding Anderson County will allow us to serve more listeners and customers who have previously had very limited choices.”

Entercom launched 96.3 The Block in 2015 on 96.3 FM in Greenville County and in 2016 on 104.5 FM in Spartanburg County. The “Steve Harvey Morning Show” can be heard on the station weekdays along with top hip-hop and R&B tracks throughout the day. Veteran radio personality Kelly Mac is the midday host and DJ JK hosts afternoons. QL and JJ Solomon hosts nights. The station also features The Breakfast Club with Charlamagne, Angela Yee, and DJ Envy from 5:30-6:00 a.m.

Tavis Smiley owned Los Angeles talk station KBLA Talk 1580 donated $20,000 in scholarship money to the NABJLA and MPJI. • WLBT anchor and meteorologist Barbie Bassett is no longer with the Jackson, Miss., NBC station after racially insensitive comments. In early March, Bassett was speaking with her fellow anchors on air about Snoop Dogg’s latest business venture, Snoop Cali Blanc, a new wine in his wine label. In response to a comment about putting a Snoop Dogg tattoo on her shoulder, Bassett said, “Fo shizzle, my nizzle.” Bassett is white. Charlamagne tha God defended Bassett as he discussed the situation on The Breakfast Club. “She might be old. She probably has no idea nizzle is a derivative of the N-word. That’s not a fireable offense. I hope she sues.”
