Radio Moves and Media Quick Takes

Tee-Roy, iHeartMedia's on-air personality at 93.3 The Beat in Jacksonville, Power 99 in Philadelphia, and in other markets; tells local Jacksonville TV station News 4 that his listeners say play Kanye West in light of Ye's recent anti-Semitic posts on Twitter that have resulted in him being banned by Elon Musk. “I thought more people would be like, ‘Hey, don’t play Kanye. I don’t want to hear him.’ But the response has been the total opposite So, to me, it’s shocking,” Tee-Roy said. “The biggest thing that came up has been race. Everybody’s said, ‘He’s a Black man and we need to support him as a Black man.’”

ABC News president Kim Godwin has decided to take Amy Robach and T.J. Holmes off the air, saying they’ve become too much of an internal and external distraction. Look for the hosts to return rather quickly as the ratings for 'GMA3' from last week saw a significant boost from the prior two weeks before the news of their affair surfaced. Godwin said that the relationship is not a violation of company policy.

Dyron Ducati New Midday Host at Kiss 104.1 Atlanta's R&B Station

Cox Media Group’s KISS 104.1 (WALR-FM/Atlanta) has officially added Dyron Ducati to the weekday line-up as the new midday host, effective April 22, 2019.

“My dad always said that life is what goes on while you’re making plans for it. While life has taken me in some unexpected directions, I’m thankful it has led me to KISS 104.1 and blessed to be back in front of the microphone as an on-air talent here in Atlanta,” says Ducati.

Ducati’s radio career began 16 years ago in New Orleans where he was the co-host and morning show producer for Q93.3. Since then, he’s been the voice of various national brands, including iHeartRadio Urban formats, and has been reporting traffic for multiple southeast stations. Ducati joined the KISS 104.1 on-air team in 2018, filling in on weekends and middays.

“It’s good to know that after searching all over the country, the person for the job was right in our camp. Dyron brings a smooth, unobtrusive sound to the KISS 104.1 midday. We are proud to have him represent us,” says Terri Avery, director of branding and programming.

Kiss 104.1 is still in search for an afternoon host.
