Urban One Columbus Enters into LMA with Hispanic La Grande Station

Urban One Columbus has entered into a Local Marketing Agreement (LMA) to assume operating responsibility for WWCD FM 102.5 from Southern Ohio Broadcasting System. Urban One Columbus will be jumping into the local radio Hispanic market by running the station as La Grande 102.5 FM, effective Friday, November 6th, 2020 at 10:00 am.

The new format will run on-air for 24 hours, seven days-week with Regional Mexican/Tropical content, which will make Urban One Columbus the one-stop-shop for reaching the Hispanic audience in Central Ohio with La Grande and WQMC-TV (Telemundo Columbus). Urban One, a minority- controlled company, acquired the Telemundo Columbus affiliation in January 2020. La Grande 102.5 FM, will be the strongest signal in the market that will allow the entire Latino population to enjoy local content in their first language.

“We are pleased to expand our footprint again in Central Ohio by reaching the fastest growing segment of the population, inclusive of the Mexican community and growing Central and South American communities.” says Regional Vice President Eddie Harrell, Jr. “Combined with our African American targeted radio/television assets, we are now the largest single source provider of content to African Americans and Spanish speaking residents in Central Ohio.” added Harrell, Jr.
Urban One Columbus is confident the addition of WWCD La Grande 102.5 will provide relevant content and popular music to the fast-growing Hispanic population in Central Ohio.  Census data over the past couple decades have demonstrated that Central Ohio is a welcoming region to live, work, and raise a family for Spanish speaking residents.  Additionally, Urban One Columbus will provide proven marketing solutions to clients in the market that cater to the Spanish speaking audience.

With the addition of WWCD FM102.5, Urban One Columbus has grown their Ohio footprint by operating WQMC - TV that holds the affiliate networks of Telemundo to super-serve the Columbus Hispanic community. While Bounce TV Columbus and urban powerhouse radio cluster of Power 107.5/106.3FM, Magic 95.5FM, and Joy 107.1FM serve the African American community and they all have a proven track record as one of the most trusted voices within the urban community through their radio and digital platforms.
