Radio One in Richmond Launches Classic Hip Hop Station “The Box” on 99.5 and 102.7

Radio One has launched Classic Hip Hop station “The Box” on 950 AM WXGI/99.5 FM (W258DC) Richmond, VA and 1240 AM WTPS/102.7 FM (W274BX) in Petersburg, VA.

The stations are FM translators of AM Radio signals in the Richmond and Petersburg markets. On air personalities will be forth coming as the format is branding itself as “RVA’s Home For Classic Hip Hop.” The stations were the former home to ESPN Richmond that Radio One acquired from Red Zebra Media in 2017. Red Zebra which was owned by Dan Snyder, the owner of the NFL's Washington Football Team. Snyder is no longer a radio station owner. 

It was also during that transaction that allowed Radio One to expand the coverage of Washington, D.C.'s WMMJ Majic 102.3 to 92.7 FM (WDCJ) in Prince Frederick County, Maryland.
