Shomari Stone Leaving NBC4 Washington to Join CNBC and The News with Shepard Smith

NBC4 Washington, D.C. WRC-TV reporter Shomari Stone is joining CNBC as a general assignment reporter for The News with Shepard Smith. He will work out of the NBC News’ D.C. bureau starting April 4.

Stone worked at the NBC owned station in D.C. for 10 years as a general assignment reporter specializing in breaking news coverage. He’s also worked as a reporter for KOMO in Seattle, WFOR in Miami, and WINK in Fort Myers, Fla.

From Talking Biz News - and the desk of CNBC senior vice president of business news Dan Colarusso:

I’m excited to announce that Shomari Stone will join CNBC as a general assignment reporter for The News with Shepard Smith focusing on general and breaking news. He’ll be based at the network’s Washington, D.C. bureau starting April 4 but will be traveling nationally and internationally to follow major stories as they unfold.

Shomari, an Emmy and Edward R. Murrow award-winning journalist, comes to CNBC from WRC, an NBC owned television station in Washington, D.C., where he spent over 10 years as a general assignment reporter specializing in breaking news coverage. Prior to WRC, he also served as a reporter for KOMO in Seattle, WFOR in Miami, and WINK in Fort Myers, FL.

Throughout his on-air career, he has reported on a multitude of high-profile stories across the country including the January 6 insurrection at the U.S. Capitol, the bombing at the Boston Marathon, immigration reform, the local impact of the Cuban Dictator Fidel Castro’s relinquished power and the fall of Haitian President Jean Bertrand Aristide as well as an exclusive interview with Trayvon Martin’s parents while they were in Washington, among others.

Shomari earned his degree from the University of Michigan, where he received six journalism awards.

He is known for getting to the heart of the stories he covers and we look forward to having him as part of the team.

Please join me in welcoming Shomari to CNBC.
