KMBC 9 News Hires Brya Berry as Co-Anchor of 5 p.m. and 9 p.m. Newscasts

KMBC 9 News announced Monday the hiring of Brya Berry as weekday co-anchor for the 5 p.m. newscast on KMBC 9 and the 9 p.m. newscast on Kansas City’s Own KCWE.

Berry brings years of experience in journalism with an emphasis in investigative reporting. She earned her bachelor of broadcast journalism degree from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Berry starts with KMBC 9 News in May.

"We are excited to welcome Brya to Kansas City,” said KMBC KCWE President and General Manager Justin Antoniotti. “Her passion for journalism and her commitment to delivering news with professionalism and purpose make her an excellent addition to our team."

Berry worked as an anchor and investigative reporter at KFOR in Oklahoma City and as an anchor and reporter at WRBL in Columbus, GA. She began her journalism career as a News Content Specialist at WBRC in Birmingham, AL. Throughout her career, Berry has placed an emphasis on community advocacy and public service.

"Brya's extensive experience as an anchor and reporter will help us continue to provide our viewers with the most up-to-date and accurate news in the Kansas City area,” said KMBC 9 News Director Dan O’Donnell. “We look forward to the energy and expertise that she will bring to our newscasts."

“We can’t wait to have someone with such an interest in community outreach joining our team,” said KMBC KCWE Community Partnerships Director Kim Rupe. “Brya’s involvement in public events and social engagement will help us to better serve residents in Kansas and Missouri.”
